Navimag pictures

… Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales-4 days sailing-1500km-the boat took us through uninhabited fjords, close encounters with mammoth glaciers and views of surreal orange sunsets over the pacific. It passed through maze of narrow channels, navigated the Angostura Inglesa(a passage so confined that the ship seemed to graze the shoreline on both sides) and it stopped for 2 hours excursion at the impossibly remote Puerto Eden ,a small fishing port and the last outpost of the region’s Qqwashqar Indians. As we sailed further South to the frozen land the channels became even narrower with fantastic views of snowy peaks of extinct and some active volcanos –the reflections in the glacial waters were just gorgeous!
…200 odd travellers on this boat from all parts of the world-this kind of trip becomes unique bonding experience-strangers become friends and you never forget them…

…ozone hole over Antarctica regions means after a few minutes in the sun without protection your skin begins to tingle as it start frying-you not only get closer to the nature here but also get real close to the enviormental problems facing the globe-I mean they are both in your face here and then you start thinking the damage that you personally have done and are still doing and then tell yourself well! what are you going to do about it!-melting of glaciers is another massive problem future generations will have to face… by the way it's an eye opner this melting of glaciers-real scary! also P V and I have become ardent supporters of SAVE THE WHALE campaign as the Japs have just been given permission to hunt 1000 whales a year-which they say are for research purpose-we say BOLLOCKS to that - you want it for sushi full stop.I mean we like the Japs because they were real good to us when we were in Japan and we have become real fan of Japan but on this issue we say STOP LYING AND STOP KILLING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CREATURE ON OUR PLANET...

…is this heaven and earth or is it heaven ON earth!

…our feelings here were -well! this is heaven ON earth!

...I have to say right here and at times like this some kind of sudden natural kalmness descends upon you and you feel really at peace with yourself and feel priviledge to be witnessing something so good and you count your blessings-some kind of spiritual thing awaken inside you and you say yaaa! I like it! and you really look up at sky and say thankyou god with all your hearts!...and have done that a few times on our journey!
…deck of Navimag…accommodation ,food and company were excellent for all 4 days…oh! And views to die for!

…Titanic feeling…this kind of trip adds real depth to your journey and makes you realize how lucky we are…

…excursion at Puerto Eden…remote as you can get-no link to outside world except by boat about 600km either side …

…narrow channels of Angostura Inglesa…

…wreckage of a cargo carrier…few years ago hit the sides of narrow channels then hit the shallow waters…impossible to salvage due to narrow channels, shallow waters and being so remote-no loss of life-captain paid respect by blowing the siren 3 times as we sailed passed-surreal emotions!...then you say well! shit happens all the time and you just carry on mate!

…saw few movies on Navimag and one of them was “THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES”---it’s about young revolutionist CHE GEUVARA’s travel through whole of this continent on a motorbike during his early days in 1950…the journey that shaped his political thinking and made him in to a worldwide hero for all budding revolutionary ...
few days earlier in SANTIAGO we had bought the same name book to read on our journey here so will have to buy another book now!-I’ve been a fan of CHE since my university days and its great knowing that my revolutionary hero had seen the same places that we are seeing now!...
…also we are seeing new movies in cinemas in big cities like watched new Harry Potter in Bangkok and Rush Hour 3 in Auckland etc…
…Indian food is a big problem in Chile…but hey who cares!
