Navimag Ferry from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales

15th Nov...spent four days and 1500km gliding through LAKE DISTRICT and TORRES DEL PINE of CHILE on a ferry called NAVIMAG(its a mini cruiseship really!))...this is the frozen land of PATAGONIA...majestic cone shaped volcanos covered in ice ,icebergs floating by, glaciers big as Belgium(not kidding!),beautiful CONDOR flying high above the mountains...fantastic sunsets and sunrise,frozen waterfalls...the wildness and the the sheer beauty of this landscape was just intoxicating! this is also a real outback with not a soul around for hundreds of miles,infact there is only one tiny village of 180 inhabitants between PUERTO MONTT and PUERTO NATALES and that´s a distance of some 1500km
...accomodation ,food and company on the NAVIMAG ferry was just 1st class...some 200 travellers together from all over the world spending time together for 4 days and enjoying the nature at its awsome best!...met some great travellers on NAVIMAG...
... have taken some superb pictures of floating icebergs,Condor in air,mammoth glaciers etc...but am having trouble loading pictures on the laptop so till I have it fixed...just have to wait...
CHILEAN PATAGONIA is just superb and they say ARGENTINE side of PATAGONIA is even more intoxicating and that we will travel to in few days... it is also here that the GREAT ANDES mountain range which begins above COLUMBIA and that continous for thousands of miles down this continent comes to an abrupt end as it becomes flat land which in turn becomes ANTARCTICA...
...Friday 16th we are off to see more glaciers and icebergs in TORRE DEL PINE national park and will also do some trekking...17th we are off to PUNTA ARENAS to see thousands of Penguins!...PUNTA ARENAS is known as THE END OF THE WORLD as it is last major town right at the tip of South American continent and ANTARCTICA is truly just a boat ride away from here...FALKLAND ISLANDS are also just boat ride away from here...this is also very sensitive area for ARGENTINA and BRITS as during the FALKLANDS WAR it is from here that ARGENTINA conducted the war against the BRITS...BRITS are really not welcome here but only for their tourist dollars...I will try my utmost not to start another FALKLANDS!...only few months back there was a huge fight at a local bar in PUNTA ARENAS between locals and BRITS over FALKLANDS comments ofcourse!
