Dipak....
Hiroshima was emotional and yet it showed the survival instinct of human being...and how we can overcome adversity.... we saw something magical about 25km from Hiroshima an island called MIYAJIMA...it has a history, tradition, blue sea, mountains, greenery and hundreds of deers and JAPANS MOST PHOTOGRAPHED SCENIC SPOT..a floating O-TORIL (grand gate). This O-TORIL is in the sea out in the bay, about 200m in to the bay(depending on tide)-and its an entrance to a Shrine called ITSUKUSHIMA-JINJA--it dates back to sixth century-the island has a holy status even now and so commoners(in old days) were not allowed to set foot on the island and had to approach the shrine by boat, entering through the floating O-TORIL out in the bay.
We had to get a ferry from Hiroshima to get to the island and it really is beautiful as you begin to approach the island, there are hundreds of deers wondering around the island and as you get near to O-TORIL -it is magnificient-and it was really floating.Under the O-TORIL we met 3 young British girls on world tour like us for 12 months and they are only in to their 2nd week and we exchanged some informations about travels and so on -it was good heart warming chat with like minded people.
